Expert: Bong Santos - 3/15/2007
QuestionHi bong! I would like to know the title and artist of this song. The voice sounds like alan Parson or colin blunstone who was also their vocalist way back. I think it has a part which goes like: "you're too much for me,I'm a wornout sail,to the sidewalk seas," something like that. Not sure if I remember it right though. Hope you can help me with this. Thanks
Best Regards
AnswerDear MJF,
It's not ALAN PARSONS or COLIN BLUNSTONE but he was a brilliant singer/songwriter as well. His name, STEVE FORBERT, the Meridian, Mississippi native anointed then as the new Dylan for his poetic lyrics. The song, I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU was from his most successful album, 1979's JACKRABBIT SLIM. Also from this album came his lone Top 40 hit, ROMEO'S TUNE, which went to No. 11 on the Hot 100 Chart on April 5, 1980, and his only other Hot 100 hit, SAY GOODBYE TO LITTLE JO, No. 85 on April 26, 1980. Here's how it goes:
I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU / STEVE FORBERT
Pick me up, shake me out
And hang me on the line
I'm a fool for you
I looked up, saw you smile
And then I saw your eyes
I'm in love with you
You're too much for me
I'm a worn-out sail
On the sidewalk sea
There's a light
There's a fire shining day and night
It came burning through
Shine on me, shine on down
You keep me high and dry
I'm in love with you
You're too much for me
I'm a worn-out sail
On the sidewalk sea
Too many faces
Breaking aces half in two
Some guys in scarlet
Singing further down in the blues
Eyes on the sidewalk
They're ancient angry flashing true
Baby, it's too many mornings
Waking lonely cause of you
Time goes by
You break on down
You can't keep holding on
You don't know what to do
I looked up, saw you smile
I know I'm not so strong
No, and I'm in love with you
You're too much for me
I'm a worn-out sail
On the sidewalk sea
Maraming salamat po!!
