I know Abba wrote music for the musical Chess. I need some information and background on the musical itself. For instance the song "Anthem" in the musical Chess, what is the Russian guy trying to describe in that song. Why does he sing that song in the first place? thank you expert.

as far as I understand, he sings about his asking for political asylem, he wants to leave his country to live in freedom for the rest of his life but he also knows that he will always be a part of the country he was born, he sings it to the american at the ambassy.
