Question
QUESTION: Hello,

I need some advice according collecting ac/dc albums on vinyl. I would like to have all the albums with Bon Scott, and how do I discover whether the release is from the 70's and not a re-issue from the 80's? It doesnt need to be 1st pressing but still I want a pressing of good quality. Is there a number that I can look after? If so, what is the number of the first albums with Bon Scott.

Hope you could help

Regards,

Kes

ANSWER: Hello Kes,

Thank you for your question. This would greatly depend on what country of release you are trying to collect, as different countries will have different record labels for each (or most) of the releases.

Bill

QUESTION: Thanks for answer. I was thinking about UK releases.

Answer
Hello Kes,

Thank you for your follow up question.

The original pressed AC/DC UK LP's with Bon Scott would be determined as follows:

"High Voltage": (Cartoon picture sleeve)Atlantic/WEA K50257
This LP will have the same catalog # info as any of the reissues, but the record label will be dark green/orange, where the reissues would be a lighter color.

"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap": Atlantic/WEA K50323 Sleeve printed by "Gothic Press". No "Made in UK" on label.

"Let There Be Rock": Atlantic/WEA Sleeve printed by 'Shorewood packaging'.

"Powerage": Atlantic/WEA K50483 omits 'Rock & Roll Damnation'. Dark green/orange label with "33 1/3" printed on the record label. (the same cat #'s apply to reissues, and this goes with the other titles as well. The reissues would have a lighter color green/orange label than the darker color original releases).

"If You Want Blood You've Got It":  Atlantic/WEA K 50532 Orange/green label without "Made in UK" printed on it (the reissue is the same label, but does have "made in UK" printed on it) The original release also came with tour merchandise sheet.

"Highway To Hell": Atlantic/WEA K50628  Green/orange label
with "Manufactured in the UK" on back sleeve.

Best Regards,

Bill
