Dirty Deeds picture disc
Dirty Deeds picture di
Bill,
I "have noticed" that AC/DC picture discs are going up as collectibles. Is it true that the AC/DC picture disc of, "dirty deeds done dirt cheap" UK import is an ultra-rare collectible. The picture disc (cartoon style) with Bon Scott's arm out with "a dirty deeds done dirt cheap" tattoo on his forearm; and Angus Young is "behind his right shoulder" and it looks like he is doing the peace sign (two fingers up).. The title I see it under as "ultra-rare" describes it as...

AC/DC " Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap " { ULTRA Rare Picture Disc } Record Album LP U.K. Import

Thank you very much, Bon and never forgotten..!

Answer
Hello Darric,

Thank you for your question, and I'm glad that you asked it.

Picture discs such as this that claim to be "ultra rare" are not anything of the sort. These are bootleg/"Pirate" or otherwise counterfeit picture discs that are being manufactured on the black market and peddled as "ultra rarities" or extremely hard to find rare releases. This is not the case. Coupled with the over inflated price tags of these picture discs, the unsuspecting buyer could be fooled into paying high dollar prices on such items.

There are a large number of these so-called 'rare' releases in circulation that often turn up for sale on auction sites including the one you mentioned (Dirty Deeds Australian), as well as "T.N.T.", "Let There Be Rock" (Australian), "Let There Be Rock" (South African purple/green, which claims to be a Japanese picture disc release), "Highway To Hell"(Australian), "High Voltage" (UK original fluorescent pic sleeve version), "Live From The Atlantic Studios", amongst others. ALL of these are counterfeit/pirate releases and are truly not worth more than $15-20USD.

It is the prices that the bootleggers are trying to name on these items that a few unsuspecting buyers might pay to set their 'values', however once more people are aware that these are not true rarities, their values should become more realistic. I hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Bill
