i know someone who had unprotected sex with a person who has aids and he didn't not contracted it.i hear people talk about and opening, meaning unless there is not and opening you can contracted it.im concern

Answer
Dear Janique:

Peace.  One exposure to fluids containing the virus does not always lead to an infection with the virus.  The presence of other Sexually Transmitted Infections and Diseases (STI/STD) raise the risk, as do abrasions and other breaks in the skin and mucous membranes.  Factors that increase risk include existing disease, the amount of fluids, the concentration of virus in the fluids, the amount of area exposed to the fluids, the duration of the exposure; all these factor in to the degree of risk.

Please go to www.avert.org and read up for more information.  Thank you for your question, and best to you, yours, and your friend.

Sincerely,

Terry
