ANSWER: Hi Michael,
First, you need to check with your physician as to whether you are diabetic. Normal fasting blood sugar level should be less than 110 mg/dl. 140 is high. Diabetes can increase the risk of recurrent oral candidiasis. If you have not been diagnosed with diabetes, I highly recommend that you obtain a a series of glucose tolerance test (GTT) and HbA1c. Secondly, check with your physician if in fact you do have oral candidiasis with a simple oral fungal swab test and drug sensitivity.
Controlling your blood sugar level may minimize the recurrence of oral candidiasis. Your physician may elect to manage your differently based on the results.
The chances of HIV causing oral candidiasis in early stages of the disease is very rare. It usually occurs when the immune system is partially to completely compromised.

QUESTION: just one more thing do you think my hiv tests have excluded hiv ?
AnswerHi Michael,
It is unethical for me to exclude any illnesses via the Internet as I have not personally examine you and review your laboratory results. Only the ordering physician, by law, may conclusively tell you your result. Please obtain advisory from your physician.
