A week ago I had receievd an oral from a prostitute.I didnt ejaculate in her mouth. Is this a risk?I also put my finger in her vagina for a few  seconds,I dont have a fresh cut on my finger but I did have a hangnial I am worried to no sleep. Can I contract hiv this way?should I be worried?

Answer
Dear Tim:

Peace.  Any time you encounter blood, semen, vaginal secretions in the incidents you describe you are at some risk; any sore, lesion, or other break in the skin increases your risk.  The amount of fluids, the duration of your exposure, and the number of times and number of people to whom you are exposed impacts your risk as well.  Please go to www.thebody.com or www.avert.org and learn more about how HIV is transmitted and how to reduce your risk.

As for your risk (primarily to the vaginal secretions) with one person, one incident, with at least partially healed skin, it's worth getting tested for your peace of mind but I'd bet on the results being negative.  Get it checked out anyway, and realize that there are a LOT of other diseases passed more easily than HIV.

Best to you and yours,

Terry
