AIDS/Contractions

Question
I have a complicated situation.  I had unprotected sex for literally a minute about 3 months ago.  He entered me and I got uncomfortable after about a minute.  Is it possible to contract HIV this way?  What is my risk factor?  I haven't had any of the symptoms like fever or flu like symptoms but my allergies have acted up lately.  I'm going crazy thinking about this.  Any advice you can give me would be great!

Answer
Dear Leta:

Peace.  Your risk is low - factoring one exposure and assuming he did not ejaculate - therefore the only semen you were exposed to was precum (pre-ejaculate is semen that is produced prior to ejaculation - or 'cumming').  It is possible but unlikely; his blood, open sores, or other sexually transmitted infections could increase that risk, also if he ejaculated.

Using symptoms to diagnose HIV infection is unreliable - the only way to know your status is by a simple blood test.  At three months, and to reduce your anxiety, it may be worth going to a counseling and testing center to confirm your status.

Lastly, stress - such as 'going crazy thinking about this' - can make other things, like your allergies, much worse.

Low risk, but test if you want confirmation.

Best to you and yours,

Terry
