Question
While I think I know the answer to my question it would be nice for someone with your experience to help me out.
While in Vegas for a night I had protected sex with a stripper back at the hotel.  What are the chances of HIV infection?? Thank you for your time!

Answer
Dear Greg:

Peace.  Thank you for your question.  HIV is transmitted by means of blood, semen, vaginal secretions, and breast milk.  A condom reduces the amount of these fluids to which you might be exposed.  HIV cannot infect through intact latex - be it in a condom or glove or whatever might be used in any given situation.  The caveat is that the condom need be used correctly every time - see detailed condom instructions at www.thebody.com - and passion is often messy.  Studies of sero-discordant couples (one HIV positive, the other not) showed that over years and many sexual encounters, there were no transmissions when condoms were used in every instance.

I hope that answers your question, best to you and yours.
