Question
I have read the previous Q&A's on dried blood, but I am still uncertain. I just pulled a fresh bottle of water from an unopened case of water, I started drinking and  I noticed a dried up red spot on the bottle coulb be blood not sure.
When I opened the bottle not I am not sure if bottle was sealed, could the red spot be in the bottle , the water looked clear. What are my possible risks.
The case was sitting for almost a week.

Answer
Dear Genanss:

Peace.  Your risk of HIV transmission is essentially non-existent, but I would throw away any water visibly tainted.  One of the little known realities of bottled water is that quite a bit of it is simply bottled tap water.

As for why you are not at HIV risk, the blood, if dried, could not retain infectious HIV; if not dried, and diluted in the water, it would provide no appreciable risk in oral intake.

I hope that helps, best to you and yours.
