Question
Couple of weeks back, I met a girl and ended up having sex with her. At start, I was rubbing her vagina [mainly the clit part] for couple of times with my finger, though didn't do any deep fingering. Then without thinking, I also touched the condom with the same finger. I am not having any bruises or lacerations on my penis. Just wanted to know the risks associated with AIDS in such a scenario,
Also does vaginal fluid secretion happen to your fingers if you are not involved with deep fingering [esp at start of any love making]....Kindly give your valuable advice..
---Lucent.

Answer
Dear Lucent:

Peace.  Your risk is small as you were exposed to a very small amount of fluid for a very short time.  While the skin on your fingers is thicker than that on your penis, there is nothing magical about the fluid touching your penis (versus some other part of your body).  Fluids produced by and through a woman's vagina are indications of arousal - and can contain sufficient HIV to infect - but so can blood which might be produced if the vagina is not lubricated by the fluids.  I recommend your reading further on HIV transmission at www.avert.org or www.thebody.com - and if you have lingering fears, meet with a counselor at a testing center and learn your status.  Again, I do not see you being at significant risk.

Sincerely,

Terry
