AIDS/unprotected oral sex with washing

Question
Hi Terry
I had couple unprotected oral sex with sex workers this last few months. Right after the oral, I always go back to shower to clean my penis to lower the infection risk. Does it really help? These days, my penis starts to be little painful, like a rash, just after couple minutes of sexual activities. You think I should be tested for HIV?

Thank you for your answer. I have to say I am starting to be anxious.

Ben

Answer
Dear Ben:

Peace.  Unprotected oral sex is less risky for HIV than for other sexually transmitted infections.  Washing helps in reducing the duration of your exposure to most of the fluids (saliva) so it reduces risk somewhat - but is not protective against infections.

I would recommend you go to a trusted health provider, or to a clinic offering testing and counseling for sexually transmitted infection.  An examination and/or testing can inform you about your health and, if an infection is present, provide you the treatment you need.  Some of the infections can cause lasting damage if not treated.

The only way to address the anxiety is with action - please go and be tested.

Best to you and yours,

Terry
