Question
Well over 12 weeks ago I had protected sex with a guy who says hes clean. But is activity makes me dought that. I Don't think the condom broke. but Bad things tend to happen to me. So I keep thinking what if it did.

What is the rick of precum infecting some one?

And is 8 weeks long enough or is there still a slight risk of it being there?  I was tested at 8 or 9 weeks after exposuere and im going back tomarrow for my 12 week test.

Answer
Dear Frayhya:

Peace, apologies for a delay, I lost internet connection in the midst of answering your question the first time.

First, exposure to precum and ejaculate (cum) is an exposure to semen.  If from an infected person, there is risk of HIV transmission.  The amount of the fluid, concentration of virus, duration and area of exposure are all factors.

At eight weeks, and now at 12, your results for HIV testing should be conclusive.  The testing site should have provided you with this information, and you can accept this result as accurate.

Regarding the "bad things tend to happen to me" I would suggest that you look into your role and risks and change them - there's a lot of good things that happen to which we don't pay much attention.

I assume by now you have your results - if they are negative, be thankful of the good thing of having avoided infection; if they are positive, be thankful for knowing your status and being able to get the care that you need.  In either case you are more aware and better able to protect yourself and loved ones.

Best to you,

Terry
