Question
Hi last night i was out clubbing and ran into a friend of a friend and he gave me a swag of his alcohol which was straight malibu rum. anyway later on he said he got into a fight and was bleeing in the mouth. If he does have aids, what are the chances of me getting HIV through drinking with him? Surely the risk is lower if the blood was very highly concentrated with alcohol.

also i woke up with a small ulcer in the back of the mouth. im not sure if it was there last night but it was probably due to drinking and what not.

i just wanna know if i should be worried.

regards,

christian

Answer
Dear Christian:

Peace.  The chances of your contracting HIV from sharing a glass, even if the person were infected, are virtually none.  If you were exposed to semen, blood, vaginal secretions from the glass in sufficient quantity to infect, you would have noticed.

Best to you.
