Question
Hello. I am a mature (well maybe not after this email is read) male and I recently visited Thailand. I partictipated in the readily available sex a couple of times while here. On the second occurance my condom came off, but the lady continued on with our sexual intercourse. Since I didn't stop this then, I decided 2 more times that night to have unprotected sex..both vaginal and oral. Now of course after sobering up, I am very worried that I may have made a huge mistake here. .. When I reach home, how quickly should I contact my physician to see if I may have contacted any STD?
Thanks for any advice to a stupid man.
Terry

Answer
You can contact your doctor as soon as you get home and ask about testing. Different STIs have different latent periods and your doctor can explain this better. HIV specifically though, has a 1-3 month window period so while you can test for it now, you should test again outside of the window period for a definitive result.

You also have the option of going to your local health department for free, anonymous testing. By visiting your doctor, the tests and results will be part of your personal medical file...this is not so at a health department.
