Question
Hi and thx!
Ok...1st let me say I really believe I have OCD! Everyday I think of different
things that could of given me the aids virus. I really stress myself every week
about a new situation. What I wanna know is once the aids virus is dead can
it come back to life? And why doesn't it die in a saringe? With that being said
I had an abortion done and now I'm thinking like what if...what if there was
still a little bit of blood left in the instrument they use for sucktion? The OB-
GYN said that all their equipment is cleaned after every person and that they
dont even use the same equipment in the same day because they send it off
to be cleaned. So let's just say they didnt clean the machine well how high is
my risk?

Answer
Medical facilities are safe...there is no reason to worry.

Once the virus is dead, it is dead.

The virus can live in transmitting fluids (blood, semen, vaginal fluid and breast milk) until the fluid has dried. When infected blood is present in a syringe, then HIV can live in it.
