AIDS/P24 combined with antibody test

Question
I tested negative at 7-weeks post-esposure for both p24 antigen and hiv antibodies.  My understanding is that the p24 does not show up on a test once antibodies are present. My question is "Is there a window period during seroconversion when both tests can show a false-negative result, or does the absence of the antigen require a significant enough immune response that the antibody would be present"?  I realize nothing is guaranteed.  I'm just trying to gain a clearer understanding of what my results mean.  Thank you for your help.

Answer
Theoretically, yes there is. Antigens are present early on and antibodies do not develop until later. So there is a possibility of testing after the "ideal" test time for antigens but before the best time for antibodies. However, usually these two tests used together are pretty reliable. You should talk to the testing counselor and have them go over this with you.
