AIDS/hiv transmission, so worried

Question
Dear Terry

Can you please help me?
I’ m worried about the following.

Some vaginal secretion got on my fingers when I touched/ massaged a prostitutes vagina ( I stopped when it started getting wet)

She gave me a blow job with a condom on and she gave me hand job.

After a few minutes I went to fresh myself a little up and I washed my penis with water only. ( foreskin pulled behind)

Can I be sure that if there was HIV involved, that I couldn’t be infectieus anymore as it was exposed to air and dried up.

In case the hiv didn’t die , was it possible that enough HIV got with the water in the urethrea to infect me?

I’m so restless and I want to know what was the risk.

Thank you

Answer
Dear Jos:

Peace.  There is some risk anytime you are exposed to vaginal secretions as you describe, but the amount and duration of your exposure was quite limited; your receiving oral sex while wearing a condom did not put you at significant risk, in my opinion.  The exposure to air and drying isn't a good preventative measure - HIV can persist in intact blood cells - but use of a condom and the minimizing your contact with vaginal secretions and blood places you at very low risk.  The fact that you have just this one exposure is also in your favor.  I would not see you as being at significant risk.

If you wish better peace of mind, visit a counseling and testing site, not only for HIV but other sexually transmitted diseases.

The best to you and yours,

Terry
