Question
Dear Terry,

AFter 4 month from unprotected relation i did PCR test, it went Undetectable, i did also HIV serology, VDRL Tests. and thanks god all went negative. My question is: does undetectable for PCR means that it might be detectable later ?? and do you suggest to do another test? because now and after 9 month of unprotected relation, i discovered a red round patch behind my knee, and during the whole period since day 3 till now, 9 month i used to feel a burning skin sensation on my left arm.
Thank you so much for your help.

Answer
Dear Hanks:

Peace.  First of all, lab is NOT my specialty, but I am familiar with the tests - the PCR is most likely (up to 10%) to show false positives - meaning indicating a possible infection when none actually exists and causing needless anxiety.   First, what does/did your doctor say, and second, I concur with the assumption that you are negative for HIV.   Go see your doctor about the patches and tingling.

Best to you and yours,

Terry
