Question
Please help. I haven't had sex without condom (after my HIV negative result about 1yr now) until 1 1/2 month ago.Now i so worried. The guy i did this with only once said he's clean but i don't know for sure & I'm going crazy not knowing my status.
The problem is that I'm Scared to do another test, the last time i did one i got so sick just waiting for the result & I'm someone who almost never get sick. Can my immune system protect me if i was exposed? Does everyone who get exposed get the disease? How long after exposure can i get the shot that the doctor give to rape victim to prevent them from getting infected if they where exposed?Whats the HIV statistic in a small state like Rhode Island?

Answer
Not everyone exposed to HIV will get it. It depends on many factors including viral load and the person's susceptibility.

Unfortunately, the only way for you to know your status is to get tested.

Any prophylactic treatment is given as soon afterwards as possible and is not a guarantee of not getting infected.
