Question Hello i am doing a research project on HIV/AIDS, and i was wondering about some things. First i would like to know if AIDS is starting to be a even higher risk than ever before? I would also like to know if prostitution is one of the few rising causes of HIV/AIDS? Is the age for people who get HIV/AIDS decreasing? my last question i was wondering if you have any statistics showing the number of increase of HIV/AIDS within the United States. I greatly appreciate your time.

Answer Hello Amanda,
Sorry for being late. Following are the answers to yours queries:
Q: First i would like to know if AIDS is starting to be a even higher risk than ever before?
A: Yes. First case being diagnosed in 1980s, presently AIDS is considered as the most deadly epidemic effecting several countries. UNAIDS report on AIDS published in December, 2008 shows this picture as well.
Q: I would also like to know if prostitution is one of the few rising causes of HIV/AIDS?
A: According to UNFPA, those engaged in sex work (or ‘prostitution’) are not homogeneous in nature. However, since monetary transition is involved in it, according to a number of studies across the countries suggest that clients preserve the ‘right’ to involve in sex act as they want, most of which are unsafe sex acts leading to HIV transmission. The sex workers can transmit HIV to their children or to their intimate/regular partner. Sex workers, who are intravenous drug users as well, are at double risk considering that some share needles … one of the most potential routs of HIV transmission. Considering that everybody is networked (most-at-risk-groups and general population), it is clear that sex work is one of the few raising causes of HIV transmission.
Q: Is the age for people who get HIV/AIDS decreasing?
A: No. Based on the available literature, a growing number of older people are now either HIV+ or have AIDS. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s ‘HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report 2007’, in USA, 17% of HIV diagnoses were in people aged 50 and above. In America there is increasing concern over how the HIV/AIDS epidemic is affecting the older generation.
Q: My last question i was wondering if you have any statistics showing the number of increase of HIV/AIDS within the United States.
A: I hope the attached file may help you (if you face problem with the picture, which I've encountered after sending you, please visit: "http://www.avert.org/usa-statistics.htm" for detailed information). I have some documents as well, which can be emailed if needed.
Compliment: I greatly appreciate your time.
My standpoint: My hats off to you.
