I had 4 days ago an oral sex with a prostitute without protection and also I have fingered her for a while , am I at risk with that , I don't know if she has open sores in her vagina , I believe I didn't have open sores in my fingers at that time .
Do I need to get a flu to confirm that I 've got a viral infection as some of my friends saying .
Can you pls help...
Thanks
Essien
ANSWER: Hello Essien,
Any sort of unprotected poses the risk of HIV and STI transmission. HIV take long time to show the symptoms (called AIDS) ... it may be 5 to 10 years and more. Added to that, poor access to health care and the existence of coexisting infections such as tuberculosis also may predispose people to faster disease progression. Getting rapid tests three months after exposure; and again a number of mixed tests six months later may ensure one's HIV status.
It's not necessarily that one will immediately show flu-like symptoms after exposure. It may take time as I said. So, please get tested as I suggested. I wish everything will be fine. As a friend, my request to you will be, why take chances, while protecting options are available?
Have a nice life.
Best regards,
Gorkey

QUESTION: Thanks Gorkey , but now I am more worried and I will have to wait for at least 2 more months before being able to take a test that will give proper results.
So are the risks high from her giving me blow job or me fingering her or her rubbing her vagina with my legs or chest or balls as this is all what happened .
Pls let me know as I cannot sleep and I cannot stay like that for 2 more months.
Thanks a lot for your help .
Answer Dear Essien,
Having oral sex is less risky, but please remember it doesn't mean it's not risky at all. CDC confirms that only saliva does not transmit HIV, unless open sore and blood is present. Given your context, please wait for the test. Hope for the best. Don't be panic. I am always with you to help with any sort of suggestions.
Best regards,
Gorkey
