Question
I was out with my 3 yr old daughter in her buggy and ran into someone by accident. I apologised to the woman then i noticed that her foot had a red scratch, not sure if the skin was broken. It was a couple of days later I began to worry if we had put ourselves at risk as within 5 minutes of this happening mine and my daughters clothing had been in contact with the part of the brake on the buggy frame which had caused the problem. I did not think to check for blood on clothing or on the buggy at the time. About 5 hours after this incident wearing the same clothes my daughter fell over in the garden and cut her knee. Are either of us at any risk of hiv? Thank you for your help.

Hello Beth!

I want to let you know that there is no possibility of HIV transmission in the case you mentioned. HIV does not live long outside receptor (few seconds only) and if we predict the woman you've encountered was HIV positive; still your baby had a cut five hours later the encounter.
