Question Dear Doctor, 11 weeks ago I had an unprotected oral sex with a prostitute and I'm really worry about it. I had an HIV antibody test at 22 days and at 55 days with negative results. About 1 week ago I started to feel some pain under my both armpit. I would like to know what are the risks for a insertive unprotected oral sex as I government sys that is the same as vaginal sex, some docters says that is low and others says that it is zero? I also would like to know if it is possible to have acute symptoms 10 weeks after exposure? Thank you for your help. Luis
Answer Oral sex carries a very small risk of transmission and that risk is only to the person performing oral sex, not receiving it.
It is not the same as vaginal sex- the risk is much less than unprotected vaginal sex.
