Question
QUESTION: hi,
i had a risky exposure when i had touched my penis with another guy's penis.i am sure my penis was fully covered with the outer skin and there was no ejaculation or pre-cum ejaculation.after that risky exposure i was so tensed that i went for HIV rapid test after 177 days and again 220 days of that incident. Both the time i was found negative.I do not have any signs or symptoms of being HIV infected for now.
The person who did the test also told me not to worry,I am absolutely fine. But always i have a fear at back of mind of having any chance of inefection. Please help me out.

ANSWER: Hello Ashu,

Welcome and thank you for asking the question. The situation you mentioned was not risky exposure at all. Please be calm and there is no chance of being infected with HIV in that way.

Have a nice day.

Best regards,
Gorkey

QUESTION: Thanks for your reply.
i have another doubt whether it is true that window period of detection of hiv is upto maximum 6 months for a healthy individual,if the individual is not taking any sort of therapy or drug and is in complete abstinence from any sort of risky sexual behaviour since last 6 months.

Answer
Welcome again!

Here is the answer: You are true. Most people infected with HIV will develop enough antibodies to be detected by our current HIV antibody tests 4 weeks after the exposure. However, some experts recommend testing at baseline, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months post-exposure.

Sincere regards,
Gorkey
