Question
Hello,

I had sex with a woman yesterday. I have used a condom from the beginning, probably correctly, I think , well , it did not fall down. (a little slided)

But:
1, I recieved her oralsex without a condom!
2, We kissed a lot and in the french way.
3, Furthermore, she had period that time. Some blood was left on my body. After the sex, I went to shower.

She claimed she had nothing(no hiv ....). well, it was one night stand. I can't trust her...

How many percents am I infected? Do I need to have a hiv test? In 2 months? oh...

thank you for your help in advance.

Sincerely,

Michael

Answer
Dear Michael:

Peace.  HIV - the virus that causes AIDS - is passed from one adult to another through blood, semen, and vaginal secretions.  An intact latex condom reduces the amount and duration of your exposure to those fluids, and the number of times incidents like this happen is called the 'frequency' of your potential exposures.  Go to www.avert.org - or www.unaids.org - to read more about HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases/infections.

I cannot give you a 'percentage' regarding your risk.  What I can tell you is that using a condom (and making sure you use it properly - see www.avert.org or www.thebody.com) reduces that risk considerably.

I recommend:
1) Go to the sites I recommended and read further.  They will help you be informed of your risk and how to better protect yourself and others in your present and future.
2) Refrain from sharing your blood or semen with others for six weeks and be both STI/STD and HIV tested for your peace of mind and knowledge about your own health.

I hope this helps.

Best to you and yours,

Terry
