AIDS - ARS

Expert: John Thai, M.D. - 8/8/2009

Question
How common is that an only ARS symptom would be joint pain, specifically wrist and fingers joint  pain that sometimes goes right up to the elbow. It is represented in both hands.

Answer
Hi Wondering,

I am answering your question as it was sent to a public question pool for answering. I am assuming that your abbreviation of ARS is anti-retroviral syndrome. Your specific symptom does not correlate with ARS. It is rather a neuropathic condition. Since it affects both hands, it is most likely carpal tunnel syndrome with an irritation to the median nerves. Please obtain further advisory from your physician.
