Question
Hi,

I am 26 Years ,male.I had sex two years ago with 2 male persons without any condom and I don't know their HIV status.

I kept on testing for 6months, 1year and 18 months and all the tests came to be negative.

Recently rashes are being developed on my body and I am having a little sore throat and cough as well.

I am bit worried whether I am infected with HIV.

Can we rely on the HIV tests after 6 months. All the tests done for me are ELISA and other rapid tests.

The reason for asking this question is as below

I have seen in internet that one person had sex before marriage.
But he never had any symptoms and later after marriage he had two sons. His wife was tested for HIV two times and got negative two times.  Suddenly he was not feeling well and he went for HIV test which came as positive. why it happened like that.

Finaly are the HIV tests after 6 months guarantee that we don,t have any AIDS and will not get AIDS in future if we are not going to have sex anymore?

I am going to marry within next six months. So I don't want to deceive my life and spread the HIV to her.

Please let me know whether I can marry her or not?

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks

Please help me on this.

Thanks in advance

Answer
Dear Harivadlamudi:

Namaste.  There is only one way to be assured you are not infected, and that is by a blood test.  Speak with your local HIV counseling and testing center to see what tests are available - and ask to be tested.  That is your solution.  There are many people living good lives after a diagnosis of HIV - and ways to prevent infecting your wife.

Best to you and yours, and please get tested as soon as possible.
