AIDS/Hiv from bad wisdom tooth and chips

Question
Me and a Co-worker of mine both have bad wisdom teeth both are bleeding. (I know I should get it taken out).


Anyways she was touching her tooth and had blood on her finger. I am not sure if she wiped the blood off of her finger before she gave me the bag of chips to eat. The bag was small. I was wondering what are the chances of catching hiv from that?

By the Way we both have a bad tooth that is BLEEDING.

I know they say you can't catch hiv from eating behind someone. I am not sure about if that is true with blood on the chips.

So my question is if she had hiv would i be infected from eating the chips with my BLEEDING wisdom tooth.

Thanks and welcome to AllExperts.

No you can not get HIV infected through food, it is also applicable in case on blood on the chips and with bleeding wisdom tooth. Among many other reasons for not getting HIV infected in this way, a few are:

1. HIV is a very fragile virus and can live in inanimate objects for a very short period. Thus, HIV does not live in objects like food for a period to infect someone.
2. Very low viral load is present to transmit someone with HIV through this route. Viral load refers to measurement of the amount of active HIV in the blood of someone who is HIV positive.
