Question
Dear terry..
i wanted to know what are the chances and possibilities of HIV and AIDS in the following situation..

a friend(subject A) recently received a protected blowjob,at a beach by a Gay[subject B(HIV status unknown)],where, Subject A was insertive subject and subject B was the receptive one.

the problem here is that subject A has dry skin in his groin area and can/may contain breaks or cracks due to itching or scratching...

the blowjob was protected by a condom over subject A's penis,but near the end of the act,subject B licked the groin of subject A but JUST ONCE.(like one stroke,in just one second)

knowing that saliva does not transmit HIV, what are the odds if subject B,has bad dental conditions,or sores or bleeding gums in this case?Do gums or sores need to bleed visibly as visible blood was not noted by subject A as it was dark.

please answer in detail

Answer
Dear Dhurandhar:

Peace.  The situation you describe is a possible exposure but minimal risk.  The reasons, in brief detail, include:

1)  At best a questionable exposure to the semen or blood of the person performing oral sex;
2)  The amount of these fluids increases the risk, therefore the lack of visible blood indicates small volume if any blood present.
3)  The unknown HIV status (although we should always assume positive status) further reduces the risk as the "Subject B" has at least some probability of not being infected.

Hope this helps.
