AIDS/Lap Dance Transmission

Question
Dear Terry:

I had a lap dance from a woman in a nightclub, she put her hands in my pants and I ejaculated.  I wondered if I might be at risk if she had done this with a previous customer and had semen on her fingers?

Please let me know, I am worried.

Answer
Dear Joe:

Peace.  Thank you for the question.

The only HIV risk you encounter is what you describe as the possibility of coming into contact with the semen of an infected person (previous customer).  The amount of semen would need be small enough for you to not notice and there is great probability she thoroughly wiped or washed her hands between customers.  Thus, the amount to which you would have been exposed is almost nonexistent.  Based on this assumption, with added statistical probability that her previous customer was not infected, I see no significant HIV risk from what you describe.

There are, however, infections which can be more easily transmitted than HIV, and I would recommend you talk with your health professional or a testing counselor to know your health status and, if appropriate, be treated for other infections.

I hope this helps.
