AIDS/Need to test?

Question
QUESTION: Hi. 5 days ago I had protected receptive anal sex (condoms + water based lubricant) with a sex worker. The condom did not broke and there was no ejaculation inside.

Can't stop thinking about if there was seminal fluid in the lube (it was already there) contaminated recently, or something like that.

Am I at risk? Should I test?

ANSWER: Dear Mariano:

Peace.  In cases where you have doubts and uncertainty about a sexual contact and risk, it is always best to be tested.  Check with your health provider or an HIV/AIDS counseling and testing center in your area to see what testing is available.

The best to you and yours.

QUESTION: Thanks Terry. Anyway I'm going to test 6weeks+ (still two weeks), or perhaps a DUO in 4 weeks.
In the meantime, do you think I could be at risk from only that encounter?

Answer
Dear Mariano:

Peace and all good things.  Yes, you could be at risk from that one encounter.  The degree of risk seems low but any risk is worth having evaluated; that is the proper role of your health provider or testing counselor who can give you factual (lab results) information with your specific results.  Again, there is no peace of mind quite like that provided by hard data.

Best to you and send me a note when you get your results, please.

Sincerely,

Terry
