AIDS/Oral Sex

Question
I have recently had oral sex with a woman. The contact was very brief and I only kissed and licked the surface of her vagina, primarily above the opening around her clitoris. There was little evidence of vaginal secreations and it was rather dry.

What are the risks of catching a STD?

Thank you for your help and Merry Christmas!

Marco

Answer
Dear Marco:

Peace and the blessings of this season be abundant for you.  The risk of HIV transmission in this case is relatively low; the risk of transmission of other Sexually Transmitted Infections is hard to estimate because some are much more easily transmitted than others, and prevalence of different infections varies from region to region.  For the sake of your safety and that of your loved ones, a test might be indicated; generally, your risk is lower with exposure to fewer fluids.

Not much of a definitive answer but hopefully helpful.

Best to you and yours.
