Question
Dear Sir,

I received a mail a couple of days back stating ....

A small boy was infected by AIDS due to eating junk food.Apparently the vendor had AIDS who used to serve junk food on the roadside & he supposed to have cut his finger while serving this little boy. And this was diagnosed by a Doctor saying the AIDS was spread this way?

Would appreciate if you could reconfirm, if AIDS could be spread this way.

Thank you

Answer
HIV cannot be spread through food. It can, however, be spread through blood. I have not head about this "case" and I do not really believe it. If there was enough of a blood exchange, then transmission would be possible-but not from a small, microscopic drop-then it would extremely rare.
