last night have done masturbation. after this i have clean my penice with water...but i am not sure that the water which i had used was clean? Can you please tell me does the HIV virus servive in water....

please please please i am very scared.

Answer
Dear Sush:

Peace and all good things to you.  HIV is transmitted by the semen (the fluid which comes from your penis when you ejaculate), blood, vaginal secretions, and breast milk from an infected person.  The amount of these fluids is a factor in risk - the more of them present from an infected person, the greater the risk.  If you did not notice these fluids were present in this water, they would not be there in a sufficient amount to infect you.  Please look to previous questions and answers in this column, or see  www.thebody.com and other sites for more information on HIV and transmission.

Again, best to you and yours.
