Question

Hi Doc

I am Ashish From New Delhi, I had a possible exposure to HIV when i had an sexual encounter with a eunuch(transsexual). I had anal sex with condom. Wen i completed i found the condom broken, the encounter lasted 3-4 minutes. As soon as i knew the condom broke i washed my penis with water and cloth.

What is chance of getting HIV,i m uncircumsized man. i m worried as i m going to get married after 2 months.

Pls tell me how long i person can live after aquiring HIV.

Answer
Washing does not prevent transmission. All I can say is that you are at risk. Anal sex carries more risk than vaginal sex.

You should wait 1-3 months to get tested- it takes that long for a test to be accurate.

With treatment, a person with HIV can live a long life.
