Question
hello sir,

i work in motel,i masturabted on bed used by other couple as soon as
they came outside i went inside for checking the room and masturbated on
the bed.i did this act 10 days back from past 6 days iam having
fever,rashes,white coating on tongue and swelling of lymph nodes in arm pits,sore throat etc...do u think
the virus is transmitted by masturbating...(if my organ was in contact
with the semen).i have not been involved in sex nor in blood transfusion
till now.how many days will it take for this symtoms to show in hiv
infected individual

Answer
1) HIV is transmitted when bodily fluids rich in the virus come in sufficient contact with another person for a long enough period of time to pass through mucous membranes or breaks in the skin.  Rarely could the situation which you describe lead to a possible transmission, but you know better the details of your incident and how often such incidents occur.

2) Other viruses and bacteria can cause illness as you describe; while the chances of HIV transmission seem minimal, you do sound like you would benefit from a visit to a qualified professional health care worker.
