Question
How much blood is required to infect a person with HIV?
Dear Jorge:
Peace - I assume there is more to your question but will answer directly. Infections have occurred between injection drug users who shared the same needle. This is because the route is blood to blood - bypassing the barriers of skin and mucous membranes to place blood from an infected person into the bloodstream of another.
I wish you the best and suggest if you have had a blood-to-blood exposure that you contact your physician or a counseling and testing center as soon as possible.
