sir,
   i would like to know the command if possible, to check the remaining capacity of a back-up tape for AS-400 V6R1???
we are using a Imation Ultrium LTO 4 tape cartridge with 1.6TB capacity...
   thank you very much for the information. it would really help us in our everyday back-up..

Unfortunately, IBM does not offer us a command that calculates the remaining capacity of a tape. This may be because, between object compression and the option not to save access path data, two comparably-sized objects can take up widely varying amounts of room on a tape. Even if we knew what percentage of the tape was unused, it would be very difficult to calculate how many objects would fit.
