AS400 Mid Range/Program Changes

Question
I generated a list of programs for which the creation date have changed during a selected period. Could you confirm whether the "Creation Date" is my best bet to reflect that the program has been changed (e.g. logic/code). Is it accurate to assume that the creation date can only be changed if the program is compiled or restored?

Regards,

Manny

Answer
Manny;
 When an object is created, the 'Creation date' and 'Change date' are both updated. In the case of a program that is recompiled, the old object is generally deleted first, so the Create and Change dates are the same. A physical file can be changed, so the Change date will usually be later than the Create date.
 The SAVCHGOBJ command can be used to save only those objects with a change date equal of later than the reference date.
Hope this answers your question. If not, send me another note and I'll try to clarify.
