Question
i want to design a data entry screen that will validate the field from a database and  also allow prompting and selecting fields from a database. I am stuck, how do i do that?

Unfortunately, this is a subject for an introductory course on on AS/400 or iSeries programming, and not something that can be properly explained by e-mail.  It involved designing and compiling a display file (written in DDS) and a program to execute and process that display file (typically written in a higher-level language like RPG or COBOL.) You will also need to learn how to interpret the layout of a database file, and about the various types of fields and options for displaying them on an entry screen.  

If you do get involved in a programming course and find that you have questions or problems, please contact me again.  Sorry that I can't solve this for you in some easier way.
