Question
I am fairly new to the iSeries and need to find out if there is a way to view a transaction log for a particular time and day.  I need to find out who has been printing reports to a particular network printer.

Thanks!!!

Each job produces a job log at the time of sign-off that displays messages pertinent to that job.  These may or may not show you which user sent a report to the desired printer. The job logs are kept in an output-queue called QPJOBLOG, and are typically retained by the system for seven days. To view them, type WRKOUTQ QPJOBLOG and press ENTER.  Each log is displayed as a separate report.  Type a '5' next to a log to view it on the screen.  There should be a 'search' or 'find' line toward the top of the screen. Type the iSeries's name for the printer and press F16 to scan the log.

If you do not want the network printer used from the iSeries at all, you could hold the output queue by typing:

HLDOUTQ OUTQ(iSeries name for the printer)

and press ENTER.  Reports will remain in the output queue until you either release the output queue and they print, or until you delete them.  These reports will carry the name of the user who printed them.
