Question
i have two checking accounts with one bank. i was told both accounts would be accessible with my existing atm card. on the bank web site it says that both accounts are linked to my atm card. i went to the atm but it automatically tells me my balance and everything of my old account. are there atms that allow you to choose which account you want to access and where cani findone? like what bank?

Answer
Hello Cliff,

Sounds like a situation that can be frustrating.

Start with your bank's ATM card department.  Sadly, ATMs are just souped up computers and only do what they're told and will only recognize what's been programmed into the bank ATM network's system. So, even though the bank website says you can access both accounts on one ATM card, start by checking with your bank to make sure they've programmed your ATM card access properly.

It might be a situation that the ATM card is programmed properly, but you can access the 2nd checking account by ONLY using your Bank's ATMs.

When it's all said and done, I'm guessing the bank might need to issue you a new ATM card or you might end up carrying two different ATM cards if your bank isn't able to re-program both accounts onto one card access.

Hope this helps get you started.  Please let me know what you find out and if they're able to fix this for you.

Take Care,
Carl
