Abortion/pregnancy after abortion

Question
My son recently broke up with his girlfriend. She was pregnant  with an ex-boyfriends baby when they started going out. She decided to abort the pregnancy at 4 1/2 months. She had the abortion (supposedly) December 28th 2007. A week ago (about the 4th of January) she told him she was pregnant with his baby. She found out a couple days before that, which would have been about the 4th of January. My son knows he hadn't slept with her from New Years eve on. She would have had to get pregnant on the 29th or 30th of December and found out just a few days thereafter. Is this possible?

Answer
Dear Bonnie,
This would be a very unlikely story.  If she ended the pregnancy on December 28th, it is possible but highly unlikely that she could have gotten pregnant on December 29th or 30th.  It takes at least a week for the pregnancy test to turn positive. More than likely, she still has pregnancy hormones from the original pregnancy, and that's why the pregnancy test was positive.  If she didn't end the pregnancy on December 28th, this would be a more likely story.
Good luck!  Sounds like a difficult situation.
