Abortion/Am I pregnant again?

Question
Hi,
I had an abortion 4 weeks ago as my baby was really ill.  I was 12.5 weeks pregnant!

I so want to have another baby, so am wondering if I'm experiencing pregnancy symptoms?  I've had a weird feeling today, feel like I need to wee all the time and that I've held it in too much! I've also got achy breasts which I've had for a week or so! I decided to take a preg test, which came up a very faint positive!

Do you think that I am pregnant again or still the pregnancy hormones from my previous pregnancy?  If I've still got pregnancy hormones from previous pregnancy does that mean that I will not get a period until they go?

I will do another test in 1 weeks time, I'm just so impatient and so want another baby that I'm finding it hard to wait!!

Any advice would be great ....

Answer
Dear Anne,
The faint positive pregnancy test is unreliable - it's more than likely from the prior pregnancy, but could be a new pregnancy.  You should definitely check it again in one week after the initial test.  It sounds like you are ready to be pregnant again, and that is wonderful.  There is no reason not to start trying immediately.  However, your body may not be ready, and it may take a month or two, or even more.  Don't forget to enjoy the process, and as always with pregnancies and children, it happens on its own time!
I hope this is helpful,
Doctor Joan
