Question
hello.i live in South Africa and i was given misoprostol 5 days ago at the local hospital. i was to go back the next morning for a womb cleaning. i felt fine 15 min after the procedure and the bleeding seized for 2 days. then i started bleeding again to date. i'd like to know how long this should continue for. kind regards-sam

Answer
Dear Samantha,
It is hard to know how this will go, as I don't know exactly what was done at the hospital.  Typically bleeding after a surgical abortion will stop and start for a few days to a few weeks.  It depends on how far you are and what procedure was done. The good news is that bleeding is usually completely normal.  Unless it is very heavy for more than a day, or lasts more than 3 weeks, it is probably normal.  It would be best for you to call the facility that did the procedure, or perhaps they gave you some aftercare instructions on what to expect.  I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.
