Question
I have received my abortion on oct 17 and came on my period nov 19. My
period usually last between 4 and 5 days but I have only been on my
period for 2 days. I'm very nervous because for one thing I'm diabetic
and I don't know if getting another abortion will affect me. I'm trying to
take good care of myself but with school and work its a little hard. I am
not ready for kids. What should I do?

Answer
Hi Kyra

Sounds like your having a hard time, poor thing!

After an abortion your periods can be a bit all over the place. Its like a trauma to your body so irregular or strange periods are not unusual.

You asked about getting another abortion- have you had sex again since the abortion or are you thinking it didnt work and you are still pregnant?

Many women are very fertile after an abortion and end up having a second one because they fall pregnant again. It shouldnt affect you if you need another one.

Maybe you would consider going on the pill? If you do this and use condoms you will be doubley safe.

I totally can understand that your not ready for kids.

One more thing quickly after an abortion a pregnancy test can stay positive for up to 8 weeks so if you did another test and it was positive it may not mean you are pregnant.

I think if you had a period you shouldnt be pregnant but if you are very worried have a blood test and they can measure the exact level of pregnancy hormones and see if it just from the old pregnancy or a new one.

Hope that helped and if you need anything else let me know.

Good luck and take care Kyra, vanessa :-)
