Question
i had an abortion 3 weeks ago on oct 30, i had unprotected sex 9 days after that, i went to the check up today and pregnancy test had a slightly pink line suggesting i was pregnant, my doctor did an ultrsound and there was no tissue left from my previous pregnany, can i be pregnant again?

Answer
hi Jojo

Well actually after an abortion or misscarriage it can take up to 8 weeks for the hormones to leave your body so in that time a pregnancy test  could be positive without you being pregnant again.

You should ask the doctor for a blood test so she can tell you the exact number (level of HCG) in your blood. This can determine whether it is old hormones leaving your body or new ones from a new pregnancy. Thats really the only way.

Going by your dates I would think that it  much to early for a new pregnancy to show up on a test so my guess is it is from your last pregnancy. I am pretty sure that would be the case.

Take care, vanessa
