About Pat G
Expertise
I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of six. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues.

Experience
I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.

Abortion - sickness

Expert: Pat G - 11/13/2008

Question
Will I still have morning sickness after my abortion?

Answer
Hi, brittany,

I don't know. Possibly for awhile. But you could have far worse problems. You could suffer a complication from the abortion. Morning sickness is fairly easy to deal with. I always suggest a woman try sipping ginger tea (even ginger ale might help). And if that doesn't help, the doctor can give a medicine that won't harm the baby.

Abortion is dangerous. It could kill you or disable you. It could make it impossible for you to have normal children afterwards. It could make you regret life and become suicidal, or develop an eating disorder, or turn to drink or drugs. The possible complications would form an amazingly long list.

If you are concerned about morning sickness, there is a better answer. If you are concerned about becoming a mother, or financial issues, there is help available.

But every woman's body is different. It depends partly on how the abortion is done, and when in the pregnancy, and so forth. Abortion disrupts a woman's hormones, and when that happens, all bets are off. The only way you can know if you will have morning sickness afterwards is to wait and see. Hormones don't change overnight, and you have hormones of pregnancy in your body.

Please don't take this kind of chance. If you need help, let me know. Please stay safe.
