About Pat G
Expertise
I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of six. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues.

Experience
I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.

Abortion - urine pregnancy test

Expert: Pat G - 11/25/2008

Question
how many weeks after an abortion urine pregnancy test will be negative

Answer
Hi, saleem,

I would say nobody knows how long it will take a given woman's hormones to return to a nonpregnant state. Abortion causes a major disruption of a woman's hormones. So anything is possible. I get the impression that it has been a few weeks, and your pregnancy test is still positive. But there should be other signs of pregnancy. For example, you might be able to feel a lump where your uterus is if you are slender and lie on your stomach on the bed. You may feel your breasts are still tender and growing. And they can probably do an ultrasound and see if you are still pregnant. It depends on how far along you were/are. Abortion doesn't ALWAYS remove the baby. I recommend you talk to a doctor. He can run tests and examine you. But nobody can tell you over the internet what is happening with your body. Good luck with this!
